Did you know that only 10% of American high schools teach Computer Science, according to a 2013 report by code.org? In addition to coding instruction in our other coastside schools, CEF will be funding Computer Science at HMB High School next year! This will be done in partnership with TEALS (Technology Education And Literacy in Schools).
TEALS is a grassroots program that helps high schools start a sustainable computer science program through partnerships between teachers and volunteer computer science individuals teaching together in the classroom. Volunteers teach a Computer Science class 2-3 mornings per week before going to work.
Interested in helping? We are looking for volunteers with Computer Science background (college or industry) to assist a couple mornings per week at HMB High School this Fall. Please help by forwarding this to others on the coast or over the hill. You can also help by going on facebook and liking and sharing out the volunteer request. Thanks for your help!
